Luis Eduardo Bautista Rojas, director of the School of Industrial Design, represented the Universidad Industrial de Santander at the International Congress: Education and Knowledge, held in Alicante (Spain).
There, the professor and researcher presented the paper entitled ‘Integration of Learning Experience Design in the design process of simulation scenes for virtual reality environments’, the result of the research project: ‘Program for the training of human talent in primary health emergency care, through the integration of converging technologies for clinical simulation’, funded by the Vice-Rectory for Research and Extension UIS, under its call for strategic programs.
The proposal stood out within the thematic axis on immersive technologies applied to education for its rigorous methodological approach and for achieving a solid articulation between technological design and learner-centered pedagogical principles.
His intervention stood out for its academic contribution, the potential impact in real training contexts, offering a practical and replicable framework for the design of educational experiences in virtual reality.
Professor Bautista proposed a methodological framework based on the Learning Experience Design (LxD) approach, which articulates principles of instructional design and user experience to create human-centered educational experiences.
During his presentation, he highlighted the results of two case studies that empirically validate the impact of the proposed framework in real training contexts. In particular, the training cases showed significant improvements in the retention and transfer of learning, as well as in the users’ perception of the experience.
The International Congress: Education and Knowledge brought together more than 1,000 papers from 25 countries and aimed to reflect, analyze, expose, discuss and share topics of interest on education linked to any branch of knowledge.
Bautista Rojas is an industrial designer, Master in Systems and Computer Engineering and PhD in Computer Science from the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). His academic and professional career has been characterized by a solid integration between user-centered design and research in emerging technologies, with a particular focus on human-computer interaction, cognitive ergonomics and instructional design supported by immersive technologies.
He is currently the director of the School of Industrial Design and a member of the Interface Research Group.
