On Saturday, August 16, the Language Institute of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) held ‘Kite Day’, an event that brought together students from the Kids program and their families at the Softball Stadium on the central campus.

The activity, held as part of Kite Month, became an ideal space for outdoor recreation and strengthening coexistence, while offering participants the opportunity to learn in a fun way.

For Aslith Samara Bohórquez, a student in Kids 1, “the activity was a lot of fun because we got to meet different classmates and also have fun, bonding with our families and getting to know them better.”

During the day, the children and their families practiced active listening by following their teachers’ instructions on how to fly the kites. This experience, in addition to promoting concentration and teamwork, allowed for the creation of moments of shared joy between parents and children.

“I thought today’s activity was really nice because it brings together both parents and students, and it’s a shared space for the children where they can have fun as well as study,” said Carolina Guerra, a parent.

The students also learned about the origins of kites and their significance in different cultures around the world, which enriched the experience with an educational and cultural component.

For the UIS Language Institute, this classroom gamification initiative not only promoted practical learning, but also left meaningful memories in the emotional memory of the participating families, consolidating the UIS Language Institute as a space for comprehensive training and community gatherin
