The Governing Council of the Industrial University of Santander, interpreting the feelings of the university community and the general public, expresses its sincere gratitude to the institution’s management team, led by the rector, Professor Hernán Porras Díaz, for the vision, agility, and commitment with which it has responded to the national government’s invitation to expand educational coverage in remote regions or those historically neglected by educational and social development processes.
The Superior Council believes that the university management has been able to interpret and fully express the guidelines and principles set out in the Institutional Project, providing clear and strategic guidance for the actions that have made it possible for the UIS to arrive in the municipality of Saravena, in the department of Arauca. This achievement is not limited to establishing a presence in a new territory; on the contrary, it represents the consolidation of a path that sows hope, generates opportunities, and opens horizons of transformation for communities that, for decades, have seen their aspirations for access to quality higher education thwarted.
The different voices that make up the University Council—including representatives of the state at the national and departmental levels, of society, and the driving forces of Santander, as well as the university community—share this expression of recognition, convinced that the UIS, with determination and quality, will continue to reach the most remote parts of the country, bringing with it the transformative power of education and its unwavering commitment to regional and national development.
