
In order to verify the progress of the infrastructure work being carried out in the province of García Rovira on the new university campus of the UIS Málaga campus, a follow-up technical visit was made to the project.
During the visit, fundamental aspects of the construction process were evaluated, with emphasis on compliance with quality standards, architectural planning and execution times.
Engineer Iván Rojas, head of the UIS Physical Plant and supervisor of the work, highlighted the scope of the project and its importance for the region.
“It is a work of 13,700 square meters, composed of seven modules that include auditorium, laboratories, classrooms, administrative spaces, library and also a veterinary clinic. It is a project that will be a social lung, a lung of culture and an educational lung not only for Malaga, but for the entire region. It is designed for the university community, but its impact will strengthen all sectors of the territory,” she said.

For engineer Sandra Díaz, coordinator of the UIS Malaga Campus, this work will not only transform the physical environment of the university, but also projects a new horizon for the academic, scientific and social development of the region.
“The new headquarters will be an epicenter for training, applied research and strategic alliances with different productive and social sectors. It is an infrastructure designed to respond to the territorial dynamics and the real needs of the community,” he said.
Jesús Ochoa, student representative to the Headquarters Council, also highlighted the construction of the new Headquarters as a project of great importance for the region and the country.

“It is a step towards the progress and development of our region. This infrastructure will strengthen academic training and research in our community, it will also boost innovation and local entrepreneurship. With this Headquarters, we are sowing the seeds of the future and ensuring that the next generations will have the necessary tools to face the challenges of tomorrow.”
The importance of this initiative is also highlighted by citizens. Ángel García, an inhabitant of the municipality of Málaga, expressed his enthusiasm for the impact of the project.
“It is a work that attracts attention and that our province deserved. It marks a before and after in educational matters, not only for García Rovira, but for the whole territory”.

Once the new campus, called “Parque Universidad”, is operational, the institution’s academic offerings will be significantly expanded. In addition to current programs such as Forestry Engineering and Animal Husbandry, new professional careers such as Veterinary Medicine and Agronomy Engineering are planned. In addition, a process is underway to offer postgraduate programs to strengthen technical and professional capacities in the region.
