
Laura Marcela Rey, a physician and resident in Internal Medicine at this university, participated as a speaker at the “XXVII Ibero-American Congress on Cerebrovascular Disease and 2025 GlobalStroke Alliance VI Latin American Ministerial Meeting,” held from November 13 to 15 in Panama.
Dr. Rey participated by presenting an oral paper entitled “Seroprevalence of Chagas disease and clinical characteristics in patients with ischemic stroke, Colombia.”
The objective of the study was to determine the frequency of seropositivity for Chagas disease in patients with ischemic stroke and to analyze its correlation with clinical and paraclinical findings relevant to neurological prognosis.
