Over the course of three days, 11th-grade students will be able to explore the academic offerings of the Industrial University of Santander, learn about its wellness services, and discover new possibilities for shaping their future.
With the goal of introducing young people to higher education and supporting them as they choose their professional future, UIS launched the “Imagina ser UIS 2026” academic fair—a space for connection, exploration, and career guidance aimed at 11th-grade students interested in getting an up-close look at university life.
Future high school graduates will have the opportunity to tour the facilities of the Scientific Research and Life Complex, visit its laboratories, interact with faculty and students, address their questions, and discover the wide range of educational opportunities offered by the university.
“This fair is a way to help all young people who lack the resources to pursue higher education. It’s an excellent idea for the UIS to open its doors so they can begin their academic careers, improve their education, and enhance their quality of life,” said Gustavo Eduardo Jácome, a teacher at the Instituto del Oriente de Piedecuesta.
During the five days of the fair, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the five UIS schools: Physicomechanical Engineering, Physicochemical Engineering, Health, Sciences, and Humanities. Through their exhibition spaces, each school will showcase its academic programs, fields of study, and professional development opportunities, helping students identify their interests and career paths.
The fair also features a joint booth for Admissions and IPRED, designed as a space for guidance and support where students can access information about academic offerings, learn about the registration and admissions process, and get answers to their questions about university education options.
“I feel this is a great opportunity because we can broaden our horizons to explore other majors and learn about all the options available to us. Plus, it’s a tuition-free university,” said Alejandra Jiménez Álvarez, a student at the Café Madrid Educational Institution.
A University Committed to Holistic Education
During the event, the Director of Admissions and Academic Records, Camilo Eduardo Londoño, presented students with an overview of the university, highlighting its 78-year history, its six campuses, its 53 undergraduate programs, and a community of over 25,000 active students.
It also highlighted the opportunities and services the UIS offers to support its students throughout their education, including meal services, student assistance programs, health care, academic support, student counseling, and the inclusion program.
These services reflect the institution’s commitment to a university experience that extends beyond the classroom and seeks to foster the well-being, retention, participation, and holistic development of everyone who is part of the UIS community.
Visitors also learned about opportunities to participate in the university’s sports teams and cultural groups—environments that promote talent, creativity, teamwork, and a sense of belonging to the institution.
Discover Your Calling, Imagine the Future
“Imagine Being UIS 2026” is an invitation to experience the university from the inside, recognize the diversity of career paths, and understand that choosing a major is also the first step in building a life plan.
Through this experience, UIS strengthens its bond with young people and their educational communities, providing them with tools to make informed decisions about their future and connecting them with the opportunities offered by public higher education.
Imagine your future, discover your calling, and live the UIS experience!
