Registration for the 15th UIS Mathematics Olympiad – Primary School 2026 will remain open until this Wednesday, September 2. The initiative invites public and private schools from across Colombia to test and strengthen their students’ mathematical skills.
The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), through its School of Mathematics, is calling on educational institutions across the country to take advantage of the final days to register for the 15th UIS Mathematics Olympiad – Primary School, with registration open until September 2, 2026.
The competition, which has been held since 2012, seeks to strengthen mathematics learning, encourage critical thinking, and enhance students’ scientific skills through an academic experience that promotes excellence and competency development.
The call is open to all schools in Colombia, both public and private, and is intended for students in third, fourth, and fifth grades of primary school. Each educational institution may register between 10 and 100 students, including students from all of its campuses.
One Registration per Institution
An important aspect of the registration process is that each school must submit a single registration including all of its participants. If an institution submits multiple registrations, only the most recent submission will be considered valid.
Registration is free of charge and must be completed directly by the educational institution. In addition, at least one Mathematics teacher must lead the process and serve as the liaison between the school and the University throughout the competition.
Mathematics to Learn, Compete, and Grow
The Olympiad will take place in several stages. Registered students will have access to weekly challenges, practice tests, and study materials through the virtual classroom, as well as guidance sessions for participating teachers.
The qualifying and selective rounds will then be held online under the supervision of teachers from each institution. Students who advance will move on to the final round, which will be held in person at the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga.
According to the schedule, the qualifying round will take place on September 16, 17, and 18; the selective round will be held on October 15; and the final round and closing ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 7, at UIS-Bucaramanga.
The UIS therefore invites educational institutions that have not yet completed their registration to do so before September 2, giving their third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students the opportunity to take part in an experience that transforms mathematics into a space for discovery, critical thinking, and overcoming new challenges.
