The third Board of Directors meeting for the 2026 term was held this Thursday in the Boardroom of the Specialized Health Unit at the Industrial University of Santander. This key meeting provided an opportunity for the management team to present a review of the unit’s performance over the first four months of the year, as well as the financial and operational projections that will guide the unit’s direction in the medium and long term.
During the meeting, attended by members of the Board of Directors and the rector of the UIS, Professor Hernán Porras Díaz, progress was reported on strategic issues such as enrollment, health risk communication, user satisfaction surveys, the implementation of the Comprehensive Healthcare Pathway (RIAS), and the strengthening of pharmaceutical services, among other aspects fundamental to service delivery.

The director of UISALUD, Dr. Santiago Ramírez Segura, highlighted the importance of this monitoring and planning exercise, noting that “a report on the first four months of 2026 was presented, which included the unit’s figures and statistics, as well as a forward-looking analysis to assess how we will close out the year.” He also emphasized the need to maintain strict control over medical costs, which have been rising due to trends in the healthcare sector.
“The goal is to avoid surprises and ensure that resources are always available, since healthcare services cannot be interrupted. We are working to prevent disruptions in service delivery and to adequately, fully, and sufficiently fulfill our role as insurers and providers,” the executive added.

For his part, Jaime Alberto Camacho Pico, the university administration’s representative on the Board of Directors, explained that these types of forums allow for comprehensive monitoring of the unit’s performance. “We have discussed financial projections that prompt us to reflect on costs and the need to balance revenues and expenses to ensure long-term viability,” he stated.
The board member also highlighted users’ recognition of the quality of service: “UISALUD continues to be regarded as a unit of excellence. Members express high levels of satisfaction with both on-site services and the provider network.” However, he cautioned that this level of quality must be maintained in balance with the entity’s financial sustainability.

In this context, the Board analyzed the challenges posed by the general healthcare system for specialized units such as UISALUD, particularly with regard to rising healthcare costs and the need to ensure the continuity of services without compromising their quality.
The convening of this third Board of Directors meeting reaffirms UISALUD’s institutional commitment to transparency, strategic planning, and the continuous improvement of its services, always with the aim of protecting the health and well-being of its members and their families.
Through these forums for monitoring and decision-making, UISALUD envisions a 2026 focused on sustainability, quality of care, and a timely response to the needs of the university community, establishing itself as a leader in the provision of health services within the institutional sphere.
