Next Thursday, September 10, starting at 2:30 p.m., a forum for the candidates running for faculty representative to the Consejo Superior will be held.
The Auditorio Jorge Zalamea on the campus central will host the event, where Professors: Edga Mireya Uribe Salamanca and Nectalí Ariza Ariza will present their proposals and action plans to their fellow faculty members, should they be elected to this representative position.
It is worth recalling that, through Resolution No. 985 of July 17, 2026, the election process was officially called. The election will take place online on Thursday, September 17, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Secretaría General UIS invites all faculty members to actively participate in the forum.
Candidate Profiles
Associate Professor, Escuela de Idiomas
Professor and graduate of the Escuela de Idiomas at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, where she served as Director for six terms (2004–2007 and 2015–2021).
She leads the research group DILECPOLE (Teaching of Languages and Cultures and Their Language and Educational Policies), affiliated with GLOTTA.
She is a member of the GLOTTA research group (UIS) and DILTEC (Unité de recherche en Didactique des langues, des textes et des cultures, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle). She holds a Ph.D. in Language and Culture Education from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle–Paris 3.
She served as faculty representative to the UIS Consejo Académico (2014–2015 and 2021–2023).
She is a member of the Colombian Plurilingualism and Interculturality Collective.
She is also a member of the EnRedELE, Colifri, FIPF, and Acolprof networks, where she served as Vice President from 2022 to 2024. She is an accredited DELE examiner with the Instituto Cervantes
Full Professor, Escuela de Historia
He holds a Ph.D. in History, with a specialization in Political Science and International Development Cooperation. He has built an outstanding academic career in both Colombia and Europe, including postdoctoral research stays at renowned institutions such as the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and The University of Texas at Austin.
He has led numerous research projects and is the author of several books and scientific articles.
From 2003 to 2011, he was affiliated with the Pau i Solidaritat agency in the Balearic Islands, Spain, where he served as Director of International Cooperation Projects. During this period, he was responsible for the formulation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects implemented in different developing countries.
Between 2011 and 2013, he carried out research stays in History at FRAMESPA, Université Le Mirail, Toulouse, and at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Lyon.
He currently serves as the representante de los profesores to the Consejo Superior for the 2024–2026 term.
