The Rector’s Office of the Industrial University of Santander officially handed over the remodeled and expanded Block A to the Specialized Health Unit, UISALUD, along with the new Block B located on the central campus. The purpose of these works is to strengthen the unit’s care capacity and provide better service to users and their families.
During the ceremony, the director of UISALUD, Santiago Ramírez Segura, highlighted the magnitude of this transformation: “The university, led by Rector Hernán Porras Díaz, is handing over these new areas to the health unit. Block A was completely refurbished, increasing the number of care areas from 26 to 44. This means that we have almost doubled the space available for the provision of health services under the UISALUD mission.”

The executive also explained that the new spaces will allow more services to be offered within the unit itself: “We are going to make good use of these spaces, bringing in an increasing number of services, both diagnostic methods and specialized consultations.”
UISALUD’s growth is also reflected in its physical infrastructure. In 2016, it had 1,215 m²; by 2022, it had reached 1,962 m²; and in 2025, it will reach 3,428 m², representing a growth of 282% compared to 2016 and 175% compared to 2022.
Among the most significant changes are the expansion of the physical therapy service, which grew from 8 to 11 offices; the creation of mental health offices; the expansion of medical offices on floors 2 and 3 of Block A, which went from 7 to 15; and the consolidation of 2 cognitive and occupational rehabilitation offices.

Users shared this positive perception of the modernization. Yolima Acevedo Marín, a UISALUD beneficiary, highlighted the importance of having more spacious and modern facilities: “The facilities are very nice, spacious, and comply with health regulations. We now have greater availability of services, and I am very happy about all the benefits this brings us as UISALUD users.”
She also called on the university community to preserve the spaces: “As beneficiaries, we must promote the care of the facilities, take advantage of the services, and recognize the blessing it is to have them available here at the university.”
Finally, she highlighted that one of the most striking changes is the “expansion of the clinics and the availability of new services, as well as the expectation of having more specialties in the future, which will facilitate access and improve medical care.”
In this way, UISALUD is consolidating its position with a modern, more extensive infrastructure and greater capacity to respond to the needs of its users and their families, reaffirming its commitment to well-being and quality in the provision of health services.
