The Specialized Health Unit of the Industrial University of Santander (UISALUD) celebrated its tenth anniversary with an event that brought together patients, healthcare providers, staff, and administrators in the Magistral Auditorium of the Scientific Complex for Research in Health and Life Sciences at the UIS School of Health. The commemoration served as a collective tribute to the work of those who, over the past ten years, have built a university health model with its own distinct identity.

The event opened with a performance by the University Choir and gave way to a moment of reflection on the institution’s journey. In his remarks, UISALUD Director Santiago Ramírez Segura summarized the significance of this celebration: “UISALUD is heritage, it is trust, and it is the future. A history that draws on more than 50 years of tradition from CAPRUIS, and which today projects itself with solidity, credibility, and leadership. We begin this new decade with greater capacity, strength, and conviction, prepared to face the challenges of the healthcare system, remaining steadfast in our purpose.”

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled “UISALUD’s History, Progress, and Future Outlook,” which examined the organization’s achievements over its first decade, as well as the challenges and opportunities it faces within the Colombian healthcare system. The session underscored UISALUD’s ongoing commitment to comprehensive, patient-centered, and high-quality care.

The celebration also served as an opportunity to highlight the relationships built over time with the provider network. Otolaryngologist Tania Marcela García, who has been affiliated with UISALUD since its inception, shared her experience: “It is a very rewarding experience to work with an institution that provides adequate care to all its patients. Every patient has an interesting story, and during consultations there is always time to get to know them a little better.”

During the event, UISALUD received an award from the Health Cluster of the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce in recognition of its 10 years of service and ongoing efforts to strengthen the healthcare model of the special university health system. Camilo Andrés Vives Mora, cluster manager at the CCB, highlighted the symbolic value of the recognition: “Ever since I was a child, I accompanied my grandfather to his appointments at CAPRUIS, and today it is wonderful to see how this has grown, how it has evolved, and how it continues to be a benchmark.” For its part, the UISALUD Users’ Association presented an institutional award to the rector of UIS, Professor Hernán Porras, in recognition of his support for strengthening the Unit.

With an eye toward the future, UISALUD reaffirms its commitment to continue growing and innovating without losing sight of its core mission: caring for the lives and well-being of its university community.
