With the aim of strengthening academic training in real-world contexts within the tourism sector, the UIS Socorro Campus, through its Professional Program in Tourism, participated with seventh-semester students in the ANATO 2026 Tourism Showcase, one of the most important platforms for the promotion and marketing of tourism at the national and international levels.
During this edition, the event brought together 206 international buyers, representatives from 35 countries, and 226 export companies from 21 departments in Colombia, establishing itself as a key platform for promoting the country in global markets. There, students explored destination promotion strategies, identified business opportunities, and strengthened communication and networking skills, which are essential for their professional performance.

Professor Pedro Javier Ramírez Bohórquez, who accompanied the students during the experience, highlighted the academic value of the visit: “Participating in the ANATO Tourism Showcase allowed students to understand how the processes we analyze in the classroom play out in real life. This type of experience strengthens their strategic vision, brings them closer to the realities of the industry, and motivates them to create innovative tourism proposals with a competitive edge.”
As part of the exercise, the future tourism professionals presented their experiences in the Coomuldesa Classroom at the Bicentennial Campus. Undoubtedly, for the students, this has become an opportunity that allowed them to bridge theory with practice in a real-world business setting. Let us remember that tourism is a driver of economic development, job creation, and regional strengthening, while also contributing to the comprehensive training of future professionals in the sector.
