UISALUD announces new services, habilitation of healthcare areas and quality certification

The Board of Directors of the Specialized Health Unit, UISALUD, was held in the Rector’s Council Room of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, UIS, where the director of the unit, Santiago Ramírez Segura, presented his management report to the rector of the UIS, Hernán Porras Díaz, and the members of the Board of Directors.

During the meeting, strategic issues related to institutional strengthening were discussed, including: UISALUD’s financial report, the implementation of new services and assistance areas, the progress of the ISO 9001:2015 certification process, and the launch of the new health procedures module in the affiliates system.

The progress in the return on investment of new areas, the opening of new spaces for the physiotherapy service, the management of non-attendance and cancellation of medical appointments, the organization of the forum on the right to die with dignity, the humanization workshop held for UISALUD personnel and the development of the “De todo corazón 2.0” program were also socialized.

The director emphasized that this space made it possible to socialize the main advances of the management and to project the unit’s future challenges:

“The challenges are to have a care model that continues to provide quality services, accessible and with a high resolution capacity for all our users. We want to strengthen in-house health services, which are more profitable and accessible, and to establish a follow-up model that guarantees the highest quality of medical services,” said Santiago Ramírez Segura.

The council also gathered impressions and recommendations from the representatives of the different interest groups. Saúl Mesa Arenas, users’ representative, valued the progress positively:

“We listened carefully to the reports presented. The new works and the expansion of specialized services are fabulous. We are increasingly able to access internal services, which reduces costs and improves the quality of care.

Luis Ernesto Téllez, representative of the pensioners before the board, stressed the importance of continuity in the quality of service:

“This meeting coincides with the arrival of the new director, who has set out his policies for the future. The challenge is to maintain the good service offered by the previous administration and, if possible, to improve it. We pensioners are pleased with this; it is not a perfect service, but at the Latin American level it is a model worthy of being shown”.

The meeting reaffirmed UISALUD’s commitment to continuous improvement and the institutional strengthening of healthcare, technological and administrative processes, which have a direct impact on the well-being of its users.
