UIS wins second place in international colloquium with study on body image and perception

ESTUDIANTES PROGRAMA DE NUTRICIÓN

Nutrition and Dietetics students Ana María Villarreal, Alejandra Zanabria, Julián David Peña, Karen Arévalo, Sara Pérez, and their advisors, professors Ana Paola Mora and Diana Cecilia Álvarez, won second place in the virtual category of the 17th International Research Colloquium for University Students and the 9th International University Research Colloquium, organized by the University of Guadalajara (CUSur) on November 19 and 20, 2025.

The award was given in the research protocols category for the work entitled “Association between body perception and internalization of body ideals according to body composition in university students.” The work was developed within the framework of the formative research course for students practicing nutrition and dietetics, and was linked to the “Eating Behavior” research group.

The proposal was submitted online and received an outstanding rating among the 392 entries from institutions in Mexico and other countries in the region.

This result recognizes the academic rigor of the team, the social relevance of the study, and the commitment to university student research. The research results will provide evidence on body image and mental and nutritional health in the university context.
