UIS School of Petroleum Engineering welcomes international exchange student

Director de Escuela de Petróleos UIS da la bienvenida a estudiante de intercambio.

The School of Petroleum Engineering at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) welcomed Giancarlo Flores Béjar, a petroleum and natural gas engineering student from the National University of Engineering (UNI) in Lima, Peru, who will spend a semester as an exchange student at the institution’s main campus.

The welcome was led by school administrators and teachers, who highlighted the importance of these exchange programs for strengthening professional training and promoting international academic cooperation.

“It’s great to be at UIS because it’s one of the best universities in Colombia, where I hope to gain knowledge, learn about the culture, and make friends. I chose UIS because I was looking for challenges, and being here is achieving that challenge to complete my studies,” said Giancarlo Flores at the start of his experience in Bucaramanga.

For his part, Professor Emiliano Ariza, director of the School of Petroleum Engineering, stressed that “these exchanges are important because they allow for joint research on processes in the field of petroleum engineering between the UIS and the UNI.” He also recalled that the university’s mission is to provide solutions to social and management problems in the sector, taking advantage of all the technical and scientific capabilities of its academic programs.

With this mobility program, the UIS reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting international integration scenarios that enrich student education and strengthen cooperation with universities in Latin America.
