The presentation of the book “Advances in Physical Therapy in Cancer and Palliative Care from the Perspective of Health and Well-being” has begun. This academic work is built upon the knowledge and experience of physical therapists committed to the holistic well-being of cancer patients. Among its authors, Iván Pinzón, a graduate of this institution, stands out for his contribution of a rigorous yet compassionate perspective on professional practice.
The book, structured in five chapters, offers a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of various approaches: from cancer epidemiology to evidence-based physical therapy, including care for pediatric cancer patients, as well as an analysis of disability, functionality, and quality of life. Additionally, it highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach as a key pillar in intervention strategies within the physical therapy approach to cancer.
Presented at the International Book Fair, FILBo 2026, this work not only brought significant advances in the field to light but also created a valuable space for feedback from readers and experts. These contributions enrich the planning process for a second edition, scheduled for 2028, thereby consolidating a living work that evolves in step with science and patient needs.
This book serves as a leading reference in the development of knowledge applied to healthcare, reaffirming the role of physical therapy as a fundamental discipline in providing dignified, scientifically grounded, and compassionate care to people facing cancer.
