The Industrial University of Santander played a prominent role at the 10th International Conference on Financial and Administrative Management in Higher Education—GEFINES 2026—held at the University of San Francisco Xavier in Chuquisaca, Bolivia. The event brought together experts and representatives from higher education institutions in various countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities in university management.
The event was supported by the SUMA Network, an initiative aimed at promoting cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and the formation of partnerships among higher education institutions, with the goal of contributing to the strengthening of university management and the development of universities and their communities.
In this context, the UIS was represented in a particularly significant way by Professor Luis Eduardo Becerra Ardiles, director of the School of Industrial and Business Studies and coordinator of the SUMA Network, who participated as a speaker and highlighted the importance of consolidating opportunities for international cooperation that allow universities to share capabilities, address common challenges, and generate results that have an impact on education and development.
The conference addressed strategic issues for the present and future of higher education institutions, including administrative and financial management, science parks, artificial intelligence, innovation, and the new challenges facing higher education. The discussions highlighted the need to move toward management models that are more efficient, relevant, and resilient in the face of technological and social transformations.
The UIS’s participation in GEFINES 2026 reaffirms its commitment to international academic cooperation, knowledge generation, and the strengthening of university management, while consolidating its leadership in regional forums aimed at building solutions and partnerships to address the challenges facing higher education.
