UIS professor participates in the 11th Biosafety Conference in Italy with a proposal on biosafety culture

indy Tatiana Daza Ríos, professor at the School of Microbiology and GIEM Group, participated in the 11th Biosafety Conference in Siena, Italy. Italian Biosafety Platform (IBP), September 9 and 10, with a poster presentation.

This event brought together companies, professionals, and researchers from around the world interested in biosafety. The objective was to disseminate the latest scientific advances and facilitate the exchange of information and experiences, contributing to the promotion of best practices and biological risk management on an international scale.

The poster, entitled “Proposal for intervention to promote a culture of biosafety in the Microbiology and Bioanalysis program at the Industrial University of Santander,” was supported by researcher Giovanna Rincón Cruz. The purpose of this research was to design strategies based on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding biosafety of the academic community of the School of Microbiology at the Industrial University of Santander who use the School’s laboratories, in order to promote adherence to procedures.

Attending this international event was essential for disseminating the partial results of the research, which raised the profile of the UIS and Colombia in the field of biosafety. It also provided an opportunity to learn about current issues and relevant research, as well as to find out about key international guidelines in the field.
