Dr. Carlos Enrique Ramírez Rivero, professor of Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine, was honored as an emeritus member of the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery during the National Congress of Plastic Surgery, held September 9–12 in Medellín. This recognition honors a lifetime dedicated to plastic surgery, teaching, and the ethical and responsible practice of the specialty.
This distinction recognizes his career and a lifetime dedicated to advancing plastic surgery, training new generations of professionals, and ensuring the proper, ethical, and responsible practice of this medical specialty.
The appointment also holds special significance for Santander and the UIS, as Dr. Ramírez Rivero becomes the first native of Santander to receive this distinction. Currently, there are only seven professionals in the country who hold the status of emeritus members of the Society.
