With the aim of supporting young people in building their life plans, the UIS Málaga Campus launched a new career and professional guidance strategy this week, aimed at 11th grade students from different educational institutions in the region.

To date, more than 150 students from Nuestra Señora del Socorro School in the municipality of Guaca and the Technical Industrial Institute of Málaga, capital of the province of García Rovira, have participated in the workshops.

The initiative, led by the University Well-being Department, aims to help students recognize their skills, interests, and aptitudes, which are key tools when making decisions about their academic and professional future.

Through the use of a vocational test, participants are able to identify possible areas of professional affinity, as well as learn about the academic programs offered by the Industrial University of Santander and other higher education institutions.

In this regard, Martha Liliana Toscano, educational psychologist at the campus, highlighted the launch of this type of workshop.

“These spaces are essential for providing young people with clear guidance at a decisive moment in their lives. Our goal is to give them more tools to make conscious, informed decisions that are aligned with their talents and aspirations.”

For her part, Dana Sofía Alvarado, an 11th-grade student, thanked the UIS for this initiative, which provides valuable guidance when choosing a professional career.

“I found it very interesting because it invites us to reflect more on what we are going to do and the career we are going to choose. It is a decision that we cannot take lightly, which is why this process is essential. In my case, I have always been interested in law, and the test results were very much in line with what I expected,” she said.

With this type of initiative, the UIS Malaga Campus reaffirms its commitment to quality, inclusive higher education with a social impact, reaching out to the region’s educational communities and making a positive impact on the education of future generations.
