Luisa Margarita Daza Maestre was among the most outstanding artists in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, one of the most prestigious and important international songwriting competitions for independent and emerging songwriters.

She has a law degree, but her passion has always been music, so she devoted herself to artistic creation, and with her song “El Puñal,” she was named a finalist in the Latin category of this competition.

“I feel so proud to see one of my compositions and my country’s name listed as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. For me, seeing my name there means seeing a personal dream come true, given my deep admiration for The Beatles and John Lennon, who are invaluable figures in my life. Thank you to my producer for his talent and musical direction on this project and for making his studio available to help me achieve this goal. To Santiago Espinal for his incredible multi-instrumental talent on this track, for translating everything I felt into music. This achievement motivates me greatly to pursue my musical dream because, yes, I want to keep dreaming,” said the young woman.

This contest was founded by Yoko Ono Lennon in 1997 and seeks to honor John Lennon’s artistic legacy by providing real opportunities to artists from around the world, regardless of their level of experience or whether or not they have a record deal.
