Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) concluded its STEM MóviLab-UIS project with the ‘Scientific Halloween’ activity, a day that combined science, creativity and fun while recognizing the students’ participation and learning throughout the project.
The Guatiguará Campus of the Guatiguará Technology Park changed its usual dynamic for a day to welcome students from educational institutions in Bucaramanga and the metropolitan area. The students arrived in costumes and shared with professionals in different UIS laboratories.
A total of 48 tenth- and eleventh-grade students from Víctor Félix Gómez School in Piedecuesta, Nuestra Señora del Pilar School in Bucaramanga, and Miguel Sánchez School in Girón actively participated in the activities and learned about the work carried out by UIS professionals.

The Vice-Rectorate for Research and Outreach (VIE) was the unit responsible for funding this initiative, which involved higher education institutions such as Universidad Industrial de Santander and Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, with 10 visits to schools and UIS campuses.
Sandra Judith García Vergara, dean of the Faculty of Physicochemical Engineering, highlighted the importance of continuing these partnerships and addressed a message to teachers:
“We invite teachers to keep these partnerships active and continue working with us to help project new generations of students toward the future. At UIS, we want to support you so that your work can be as inspiring as possible and show you that the University is, and could possibly become, your new home.”

“It was a very interesting experience. We visited different laboratories several times, with topics focused on science. It is something that encourages students to consider studying areas such as chemistry. Seeing the reactions live and the UIS facilities is inspiring,” said Louis Santiago Chaparro, a student at Miguel Sánchez Hinestroza School.
In this way, STEM MóviLab-UIS continues to bring science and engineering closer to schools while creating new experiences that allow young people to recognize their abilities and envision their future.
