Emotion, talent, and discipline took center stage at the Ascun 2026 Sports Games – Zonal Phase, where the men’s futsal and women’s volleyball teams from Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) secured important victories that strengthen the university’s sporting spirit.
Men’s Futsal: character and efficiency on the court
With a solid and strategic performance, the men’s futsal team defeated Universidad Santo Tomás with a 7–3 scoreline. The result reflects the team’s focus, preparation, and ability to respond under pressure, showcasing an effective offense and well-structured teamwork.
After the match, goalkeeper and UIS student Jhon Darío Pérez highlighted the process behind the result: “The match started off very difficult, but then, thanks to God and all the training, we were able to do on the court what we practice and come out victorious. Also, the work I’ve done with coach Miller, our goalkeeping coach, has given me the foundation to be a good goalkeeper, stand out, and deliver a great performance.”
Pérez also contributed offensively, scoring a brace that helped secure the win.

Women’s Volleyball: dominance and competitive projection
Meanwhile, the women’s volleyball team demonstrated a high competitive level by defeating Universidad de Santander (UDES) 3–0. Through precise execution, coordinated play, and constant determination, the team controlled the match from start to finish.
UIS student and team member Sofía Fajardo emphasized both the home atmosphere and upcoming challenges: “We feel very happy, very supported, and very welcomed. I truly love playing at home; I’m always happy competing here.”
Regarding what lies ahead, she added: “There are tough matches coming. We have to play them very well and keep training. Even though we’ve already won the first match, there are many more to go, and we need to win them all.”

Institutional commitment to sports
These results highlight UIS’s commitment to the comprehensive development of its students, where sports play a key role in fostering discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.
The university community is invited to continue supporting its athletes, who proudly represent UIS in every competition.
