As part of the UIS 2025 Fair “Imagine being UIS” on October 28 and 29, 11th-grade students from public and private schools in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area visit the facilities of the Scientific Complex for Health and Life Sciences Research, with the purpose of learning about each of the programs offered by the UIS.
“I aspire to study industrial engineering. This opportunity to visit the university and learn about its programs is very important because it helps us be more informed about what we can study. I am impressed by all the programs it offers, its facilities, and the fact that it is one of the best institutions,” said César Zambrano, a student at Colegio Cabecera del Llano de Piedecuesta.
At this meeting, students have the opportunity to learn more about the leading public university in eastern Colombia, its faculties, undergraduate academic programs, research groups, services offered by Student Welfare, opportunities for double degrees in Foreign Affairs, among other benefits offered by the institution.
“I got into medical school with a 4.78 GPA, and I’m very happy. I’ve always been passionate about chemistry and biology. Seeing this new campus, the infrastructure, and the laboratories excites me. They are very beautiful, and I want to enjoy them,” said Isabela Ver Gómez, a student at Colegio Divino Niño.
Through fun activities such as experiments, challenges, myths, and truths, professors from the five faculties and IPRED present the academic programs.
“I think it’s great that they are creating these opportunities. Students can learn all the information and have it at their fingertips so they can make decisions,” said William Cárdenas, a professor at Colegio Divino Niño.
The goal of UIS researchers is to capture visitors’ attention, answer questions, and provide information in a clear, agile, and dynamic way, creating a simple and relaxed space for interaction with high school students.
“This first edition of the Imagine Being UIS Fair has been a complete success. The students are happy, visiting the stands and participating in lectures in the auditorium. There is a space for each faculty to showcase their programs, and we also have a storyteller who is a UIS graduate. This dynamic makes for an enjoyable day for the kids,” said Camilo Londoño, Director of Admissions and Academic Records.
