The Oral Archive of Victims’ Memories (AMOVI) at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) was recognized by the National Center for Historical Memory (CNMH) for its commitment to protecting and preserving archives related to human rights and the memory of the Colombian armed conflict.
The recognition specifically highlights the work carried out by AMOVI UIS to register its documentary collections in the Special Registry of Human Rights Archives (READH), an initiative that helps identify, protect, and bring to light documents essential to understanding human rights violations and the experiences of the communities and individuals affected by the conflict.
AMOVI UIS thus reaffirms its commitment to protecting Colombia’s documentary heritage and to recognizing memory as a fundamental component in building a society that understands its past and can reflect critically on it.
The registration of these archival collections in the READH also constitutes a significant step toward strengthening strategies for the conservation and protection of documents that, due to their content and context of creation, hold special value for historical memory and the defense of human rights.
