This week, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) becomes the main stage for historical analysis and reflection, with a new edition of the History School Colloquium, an academic space that has established itself as a meeting point for the dissemination of historical knowledge produced at the institution and other centres of thought in the country.
On 14 and 15 October, the Colloquium will bring together, in a hybrid format, researchers specialising in economic, social, political and cultural history, covering a period from the first inhabitants of what is now Santander to the end of Spanish rule. This interdisciplinary dialogue seeks to contribute to the understanding of the region’s past and strengthen academic networks around historical study.
With this edition, the School of History is launching a series of annual meetings aimed at advancing the construction of a General History of Santander, a work that synthesises the accumulated historical knowledge about the region and its transformations over time.
The programme will continue on 16 and 17 October with the in-person presentation of research progress by Master’s and Doctoral students, who will present the partial results of their projects, reaffirming the UIS’s commitment to research training and the production of high-level historical knowledge.
