STEM-MóviLab boosts science learning at Nuestra Señora de El Pilar School

Science moved beyond theory and into hands-on experience at Nuestra Señora de El Pilar School, thanks to the arrival of the STEM-MóviLab, an initiative led by the Universidad Industrial de Santander aimed at inspiring interest in research and engineering among high school students.

During the visit, 10th and 11th grade students engaged in practical activities that allowed them to interact directly with laboratory materials and equipment. Rather than passively learning, students experimented, asked questions, and explored solutions, strengthening key skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving.

The delivery of the experimental kit marked the beginning of new opportunities for both teachers and students to incorporate innovative methodologies into the classroom. This resource expands learning possibilities by promoting a more dynamic approach, where knowledge is built through experience.

Transforming education through local engagement

The STEM-MóviLab is part of a research project focused on implementing innovative STEM-based teaching strategies in school environments, with the goal of encouraging students to pursue academic pathways in science and technology.

Supported by the Universidad Industrial de Santander, the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between secondary and higher education by bringing scientific knowledge directly into local communities.

The project also collaborates with research groups that contribute specialized expertise, ensuring that classroom activities are connected to real-world developments in fields such as chemistry, engineering, and technological innovation.

Through initiatives like STEM-MóviLab, the university continues to create opportunities for young people to discover their scientific interests and envision future careers in STEM fields.
