Going Above and Beyond: UIS Honors Those Who Protect Lives in the University Community

The UIS honored the student safety patrol members and the members of COPASST and COCOLA, highlighting their volunteer work in ensuring the safety and well-being of the university community.

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) held the Night of Recognition for Effort and Dedication, a meaningful event that celebrated the commitment, dedication, and dedication to service of the members of COPASST, COCOLA, and the volunteer safety patrol team—staff members who voluntarily take on the responsibility of ensuring the well-being and safety of the entire university community.

The event, held at the Sonesta Hotel, was a special evening dedicated to honoring those who, beyond their job duties, choose to contribute their time and skills to fostering safe and healthy work environments. Their efforts, rooted in solidarity, prevention, and teamwork, form a cornerstone of the institution’s Occupational Safety and Health Management System.

During the event, the head of the Human Talent Management Division, Olga Patricia Chacón Arias, highlighted the importance of these efforts, which contribute daily to the overall well-being of employees. In her remarks, she emphasized the commitment and dedication of the teams, noting that their work directly impacts the quality of life of the university community.

The event also featured the 2025 accountability report from the Joint Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (COPASST), during which the main progress, achievements, and challenges were shared, highlighting the ongoing strengthening of strategies aimed at promoting health and preventing occupational hazards.

The event was also supported by ARL Positiva, which highlighted the contributions of workers on each of the committees affiliated with the system, recognizing their key role in fostering a culture of self-care and prevention.

Through initiatives like this, the institution recognizes its human talent and promotes an organizational culture where caring for life, health, and well-being is a shared responsibility.
