As part of the first Meeting to Raise Awareness of Community, Agricultural, and Social Organizations in Santander, the Santander Community Federation (FECOSAN) and the Association for Agricultural and Rural Development in Santander (ASOCAMPOSANDER) awarded Ximena Lucelly Sánchez Cortés, a professor at the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, the “Antonia Santos Order” distinction in recognition of her social leadership, commitment to communities, and contribution to territorial development in the field of food and nutrition.
The award ceremony was attended by high-level officials from the national government, including Astrid Eliana Cáceres Cárdenas, director general of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), and Álvaro Mauricio Rodríguez Amaya, director of the Administrative Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), the entity responsible for designing and implementing policies to overcome poverty, promote the inclusion of vulnerable populations, and care for victims of violence. The participation of these institutions highlights the significance of the meeting and the impact of the coordinated work between academia, social organizations, and the state.
Professor Ximena Lucely has guided processes that promote the right to food, strengthen community capacities, and generate sustainable solutions for nutritional well-being and food security in Santander and throughout the country. Her leadership has helped position the School of Nutrition and Dietetics as a technical and social benchmark in the development of policies and projects with a territorial impact.
Congratulations, Professor Ximena, on this achievement that enhances your career and reaffirms the institutional commitment to social development and food equity! Your example inspires us to continue building a more just, healthy Colombia with greater well-being for communities!
