Professor at the School of Medicine presented research on maternal lineages of the Andean population

With her work entitled “Genetic characterization of maternal lineages in the Colombian Andean population,” Professor Adriana Castillo, a member of the Department of Basic Sciences at the School of Medicine and director of Research and Extension (DIEF) at the Faculty of Health, participated as a speaker at the 60th National and 11th International Congress of Biological Sciences, held in Montería.

At this event, she presented the results of genetic research conducted on 662 samples from individuals born and residing in the departments that make up the Andean region to determine their haplotypes through complete control region sequencing of mtDNA.

This event brought together microbiologists, biologists, and biological science specialists from Colombia and around the world.
