The Industrial University of Santander, through its Master’s program in Epidemiology and under the coordination of Professor Myriam Ruiz Rodríguez from the Department of Public Health, successfully held an academic discussion that brought together graduate students and public health decision-makers from Paraguay, Mexico, and Colombia. This space for dialogue fostered joint reflection on lessons learned, key challenges, and facilitating factors that, based on the experts’ experience, are fundamental to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public health policies.

During the meeting, the guests shared significant experiences related to the public health policy cycle and identified strategic elements for defining the public health agenda in local, regional, and global contexts.

The discussion was notable for its participatory and educational nature, promoting an enriching exchange between Master’s students and professionals with extensive experience in the health sector. The invited experts highlighted the importance of strengthening the link between academia and public policy makers in order to move towards more equitable, efficient, and resilient health systems.

These types of initiatives reaffirm the UIS’s commitment to the comprehensive training of highly skilled professionals and to the generation of relevant knowledge for the improvement of public health in Latin America.
