The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) welcomes academic peer reviewers appointed by the National Accreditation Council (CNA) as part of the accreditation renewal processes under the CNA and ARCU-SUR models for its Chemical Engineering program.
To officially open the visit, UIS Rector Hernán Porras Díaz welcomed the national and international peer reviewers, accompanied by university administrators and staff. The meeting provided an opportunity to formally introduce each member of the visiting delegation and showcase the university’s progress in fulfilling its core mission through an institutional video presentation.
This visit provides an opportunity to highlight the academic program’s strengths and recent developments, while also identifying areas for improvement that will further strengthen its commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive education.

National and International Accreditation Renewal
The Chemical Engineering program will undergo an evaluation at the national level by the National Accreditation Council (CNA) and at the international level by the Regional Accreditation System for University Degrees of MERCOSUR (ARCU-SUR). These processes assess compliance with the high academic and scientific standards required of higher education institutions.
The visit includes the participation of the following academic peer reviewers: Nubia Yineth Piñeros Castro (coordinating peer reviewer); Ethel Sirim Onieva Feltes (international peer reviewer); Susana María Nolasco (international peer reviewer, participating remotely); and John Alejandro Cardona Valencia (ARCU-SUR Technical Officer).

Crisostomo Barajas Guerrero, Academic Coordinator of the Chemical Engineering program, explained the purpose of the visit:
“The goal is to renew the accreditation of the Chemical Engineering program. After receiving CNA accreditation in 2018 for an eight-year period, that accreditation has now reached its expiration date. This renewal process allows us to showcase the program’s achievements and potential, while also promoting student mobility to universities with national and international accreditation.”
Throughout the week, UIS administrators and staff will present the work carried out by the university to the academic peer reviewers, who will also visit various UIS facilities.
