35 young people from public schools in Floridablanca begin university education at the UIS through educational coordination

This group of students from official educational institutions in Floridablanca began their university education at the UIS for the 2026-1 academic period, thanks to the articulation model between secondary and higher education.

During a visit to the Floridablanca campus, the municipal secretary of education, Diego Jaimes Porras, spent time with the students who began their studies this semester in the Cultural and Creative Business Administration program.

The official highlighted the importance of this educational strategy, which allows tenth and eleventh graders to get a head start on higher education. “We are very happy with this process that is taking place here at UIS Floridablanca. We came to greet the articulation students who recently enrolled, welcome them, and listen to their concerns,” said Jaimes Porras.

Since the 2026-1 academic period, students have taken on the challenge of combining their school education with higher education. During the day, they attend their high schools, and in the evening, they advance in their academic process on the university campus.

The Cultural and Creative Business Administration program is offered through preparatory cycles, which allow students to begin with technical training, continue with the technological level, and subsequently obtain a professional degree.

During the institutional visit, a meeting was also held with fourth-year students from this academic program, who shared their educational experiences and the lessons learned since the start of this educational initiative promoted by the University with the support of the Municipal Administration in 2024.

According to the Secretary of Education, strengthening the agreement has led to high levels of motivation among young people in the municipality. “We spoke with students who will complete their technical training this year and we can see how the agreement has been consolidated. Young people are empowered and recognize this career as a great opportunity to become graduates of one of the most important public universities in the country,” he said.

The academic offerings of this program at the UIS Floridablanca campus have been positively received by the municipality’s educational community, consolidating itself as a key strategy for expanding access to higher education through coordination with secondary education.
