UISALUD Strengthens Its Institutional Management at Its Second Board of Directors Meeting

The second Board of Directors meeting of 2026 was held in the boardroom of the Specialized Health Unit at the Industrial University of Santander, with all its representatives in attendance. This meeting served as a key forum for reviewing the information to be shared with users regarding the 2025 accountability report and for analyzing the main challenges facing the healthcare system.

During the session, strategic issues were addressed, such as ensuring enrollment, service delivery, network management, human resources, financing, a differentiated approach, and intersectoral coordination.

The analysis identified significant challenges associated with the sustained increase in healthcare costs and the crisis context the sector is facing at the national level. Additionally, the growing heterogeneity of the user population was acknowledged, particularly the increase in age groups with greater care needs, which requires adjustments to service delivery models to respond more effectively and in a timely manner.

Similarly, the meeting highlighted the vital role of human resources in establishing a responsive and effective service, as well as the importance of strengthening coordination with the network of providers and other stakeholders in the healthcare system to expand the reach of institutional initiatives.

As a result of this meeting, the Board of Directors reaffirmed the need to strengthen management efficiency strategies, consolidate the quality and timeliness of care, and continue advancing a user-centered healthcare model that balances financial sustainability with service relevance.

“These types of forums are essential so that we representatives can transparently review how the institution is performing and what adjustments we need to make. The crisis in the health sector requires us to be very rigorous about sustainability, but without losing sight of the fact that at the center of it all is the user and the quality of their care,” stated Hernando Guerrero Amaya, the faculty representative on the UISALUD Board of Directors.

This process of analysis and decision-making reaffirms UISALUD’s commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and the well-being of its members, charting a roadmap aimed at addressing the community’s real needs and strengthening trust in the institution.
