The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) will host a day dedicated to musical talent, tradition, and education on Friday, October 30, with the First Northeastern Colombian Music Band Festival – UIS. The event will bring together musical ensembles from five municipalities to encourage artistic exchange and strengthen regional band programs.
The symphonic bands from Becerril, Sabana de Torres, San Vicente de Chucurí, Suratá, and Zapatoca will gather on the UIS main campus to showcase their artistic development and the musical richness of their communities. In addition, the program will feature instrumental workshops, live band performances, and a concert by the UIS Institutional Symphonic Band.
A Day to Learn and Share Through Music
Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. with instrumental workshops, which will run until noon and provide participants with opportunities to develop their musical skills and exchange knowledge.
Starting at 2:30 p.m., the invited bands will take the stage at the UIS School of Arts Plaza. Through their performances, audiences will discover different musical expressions from northeastern Colombia and the work of the region’s band programs.
The day will conclude at 5:00 p.m. with a concert by the UIS Institutional Symphonic Band. The performance will celebrate wind and percussion music while highlighting the teamwork and artistic dedication that define these ensembles.
