The academic excellence and international reach of UIS graduates continue to stand out in specialized training settings. On this occasion, Génesis Daniela Méndez Pirela, a graduate of the Nutrition and Dietetics program, was awarded a scholarship through the ESPEN Educational Training program, an initiative of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), which promotes the development of professional skills through training experiences at European institutions.

Génesis currently works as a clinical nutritionist at the Hospital Internacional de Colombia in Bucaramanga and is completing a two-month rotation in the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department at the Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital, a renowned medical center located in Madrid.

This experience represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen her knowledge and skills in clinical nutrition, exchange experiences with international professionals, and learn about nutritional care practices in a European hospital setting.

Training That Transcends Borders

With special gratitude, Génesis shared this achievement with the UIS School of Nutrition and Dietetics and acknowledged her professors’ contribution to her professional development.

“Much of what I apply in my work today I learned from you,” the graduate said in her remarks, highlighting the impact of her university education on her practice as a clinical nutritionist.

The director of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, Alberto Ángel Martín, noted: “For the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, this recognition is a source of pride and reflects the success of our graduates on the national and international stages. It also reaffirms the importance of promoting a solid academic education committed to scientific knowledge, professional development, and excellence in the practice of nutrition and dietetics.”

The School of Nutrition and Dietetics congratulates Génesis Daniela Méndez Pirela on this significant achievement and wishes her success in her international training.

Her journey serves as an inspiration to students, faculty, and graduates, and demonstrates how professional training can open doors to growth and learning opportunities beyond national borders.
