The Universidad Industrial de Santander, in its constant commitment to the effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement of its processes, has initiated the certification process of the Quality Management System under the NTC ISO 9001:2015 standard in the mission sub-processes of the Specialized Health Unit, UISALUD.

The certification will cover the sub-processes of affiliation and collection, direct management of health care services, management of the health services network and management of integral health care routes, framed in the process approach adopted by the University and represented in its Process Map.

In UISALUD we have already advanced with the first stage of Documentation, with the review and update of the documents required for the implementation of ISO 9001:2015. Today we are starting the Training stage, focused on socializing the generalities and concepts related to process management, indicators, risks, customer satisfaction, and actions for measurement, evaluation and improvement, says Olga Janeth Romero, UISALUD’s Quality Coordinator.

The training sessions will be carried out in person and through the Moodle virtual classroom, from May 15 to June 5, 2025. Subsequently, an internal audit of UISALUD’s processes will be carried out by an external entity, in preparation for the certification audit visit by ICONTEC.

Olga Romero, Coordinadora de Calidad de UISALUD.

During the socialization of the process planning, Romero highlighted:
“This process is an opportunity to strengthen the culture of quality in our health service. The implementation of ISO 9001:2015 will allow us to work with greater focus, clarity and commitment to continuous improvement and the satisfaction of our users”.

For her part, María Teresa Cortés, the professional in charge of leading the training sessions, said, “The trainings will allow each worker to understand the scope of the certification process, their role within the system and how to actively contribute to compliance with quality standards. Everyone’s participation is key to achieving a successful implementation.”

This new institutional milestone seeks to expand the scope of the certification that UIS has maintained since 2009, directing its efforts towards excellence in the health services it offers to the university community, in accordance with the best practices and demands of the sector.

With this initiative, UISALUD reaffirms its conviction to consolidate a transparent, organized and excellence-oriented institutional management, thus strengthening its mission and its responsibility to the welfare of the UIS community.
