The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) will welcome first-year students for the 2026-2 academic term from July 27 to 31 with a comprehensive program of academic, cultural, sports, and institutional activities that will mark the beginning of their university experience. The program is designed to help new students integrate into the university community and provide them with the tools they need to successfully begin this new stage of their lives.
Over the course of five days, students will participate in activities held at the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo, across the university campus, and in other institutional venues. Welcome Week will include campus tours, orientation sessions, cultural performances, student well-being activities, internationalization opportunities, multilingualism initiatives, information about university services, and a sports integration event that will conclude the program on Friday, July 31, at the UIS Sports Coliseum.
The official opening will take place on Monday, July 27, with a cultural performance, welcoming remarks from the Academic Council, a campus tour, and other activities designed to introduce new students to the spaces where they will pursue their academic and personal development over the coming years.
On Tuesday, July 28, the program will focus on academic processes, the Academic Excellence System (SEA-UIS), Student Well-being, and a workshop on psychological first aid. That same day, at 6:00 p.m., the University will host a special welcome event for parents, recognizing the essential role they play in supporting students as they begin their university journey.
The agenda will continue on Wednesday with activities led by the Cultural Affairs Office, the Multilingualism Program, the faculties, and the schools. On Thursday, students will learn about the UIS Library services, international opportunities, the UIS Chair, the Emergency Plan, and participate in a workshop on addiction prevention. The program will conclude on Friday with a sports integration day for all first-year students.
UIS: A home to build the future

UIS extends its warmest welcome to every student embarking on this new journey. This is your home—a place where you will find knowledge, opportunities, challenges, and a community committed to supporting your personal and professional growth.
Every class, research project, cultural activity, and sporting event will be an opportunity to discover your talents and develop your potential to become ethical, innovative professionals committed to transforming society.
The University’s greatest aspiration is for these new students to graduate as leaders capable of providing solutions to the challenges facing the region, the country, and the world, while strengthening the prestige of UIS and contributing to scientific, technological, social, and human development.
