The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the School of Medicine played a prominent role, through Professor Adriana Inés González Quitian, affiliated with the School of Medicine, in the development of the Guidelines for the Implementation of Clinical Simulation in Colombia, led by the Colombian Association of Medical Schools (ASCOFAME).
Professor Adriana González acted as representative of the Eastern region before the National Clinical Simulation Committee and played an active role in the interprofessional and collaborative process that brought together experts from different regions of the country with the aim of consolidating an evidence-based national framework to strengthen quality, curriculum integration, evaluation, and teaching competencies in clinical simulation. Her participation was key to highlighting the realities, needs, and strengths of higher education institutions in eastern Colombia.
Likewise, the UIS professor participated as a national reviewer of the final document, contributing to the academic validation and technical soundness of the guidelines, which today constitute a benchmark for health sciences education in Colombia, with an emphasis on patient safety, pedagogical innovation, and competency-based training.
