Academic excellence once again bears the UIS hallmark. The Microbiology and Bioanalysis program at the Industrial University of Santander has once again ranked first nationally in the Saber Pro exams, solidifying a track record of leadership that has made it an undisputed benchmark for scientific education in Colombia.

Among 16 institutions evaluated in their core knowledge area, the program achieved an outstanding overall score of 179, placing it at the top of the national ranking. The results reflect exceptional performance in fundamental competencies for the comprehensive training of future professionals: first place in Civic Competencies (180), Critical Reading (187), and Quantitative Reasoning (178); second place in English (192); and fifth place in Written Communication (158).

More than just an impressive figure, this result demonstrates the strength of an educational project that combines scientific excellence, critical thinking, ethical training, and an ongoing commitment to academic quality and the comprehensive support of its students.

“We are very happy to see how our efforts to strengthen cross-disciplinary skills such as English and writing have paid off. This achievement is also the result of the commitment and dedication of our faculty. This news fills our students with pride, motivates them to maintain academic rigor, and leaves a lasting impression on our graduates,” said Mayra Alejandra Machuca, director of the School of Microbiology.

What is most significant about this recognition is that it is not an isolated achievement. Since the implementation of the Saber Pro tests in 2003, the UIS Microbiology and Bioanalysis program has maintained its national leadership, a feat that demonstrates the consistency, rigor, and quality of an education that has set the standard in the country for more than two decades.

Behind this new triumph are generations of students committed to excellence and a faculty that has made academic quality an institutional culture. The results reflect years of effort, discipline, and an educational vision focused on training professionals capable of responding to the scientific, social, and technological challenges of the present.

This recognition takes on even greater significance as it coincides with the 68th anniversary of the academic program’s founding, which was celebrated by the School of Microbiology last May. Thus, in the context of this historic milestone, the academic community has a new source of pride: the confirmation that Microbiology and Bioanalysis at the UIS continues to be synonymous with excellence, leadership, and quality at the national level.
