Returning to the university after so many years was an experience filled with emotion and memories for the graduates of the Industrial University of Santander. The invitation is organized each month by the UIS Institutional Graduate Program, the graduate representative to the Higher Council, Mario Betancurt, and ASEDUIS.
The graduates, who were accompanied by their families, shared the same feeling: it was like coming home. They admired the changes that the campus has undergone in recent years.

“I am recognizing the University again. It is completely different and beautiful. It is good to see it again, starting with La Casona Perla, which brings back so many memories because that is where all the choir trips were organized,” said Pedro Elías Trujillo, a graduate of the Medicine program (1980), who currently lives in the United States.

Like Pedro Elías, many graduates toured the different areas of the campus, which today are almost unrecognizable, transformed with a modern and welcoming style.
Julia León, also a graduate of the Medicine program, visited her alma mater after 20 years. “The change is incredible. The university atmosphere and green spaces have been preserved, which are very important when you are in a student environment to be able to connect with nature. But they have given it a modern look that I love.”

“I’m really impressed. The buildings we know have changed dramatically. In the library, you had to go and look for the file and spend hours doing so, but now everything is automated. It has definitely changed. In other words, today’s students are enjoying a beautiful university that we didn’t have,” says Fernando Murillo Higuera, an electrical engineering graduate from 1989.
Attendees were able to walk through every corner of the university that marked their professional training, and best of all, they were able to do so alongside their loved ones.

These tours of the University are organized on the last Friday of each month. Just keep an eye out for the announcement published through institutional channels to register. “UIS graduates, come back to where your story began!”
