This achievement was accompanied by another outstanding result: 100% of the program’s students who took the exam reached Level 4 in the English component, the highest classification established by this assessment.
A total of 16 universities from nine cities across the country participated in this evaluation, involving 1,154 students. These results once again confirm the academic excellence and high-quality education provided to students. UIS was represented by 50 students who demonstrated strong competencies in critical judgment, problem-solving, argumentation, and comprehensive education.
The results obtained in the five Saber Pro components were as follows: Citizenship Competencies (180), Written Communication (169), English (216), Critical Reading (188), and Quantitative Reasoning (158).
This accomplishment highlights the program’s ability to prepare professionals with strengths in teaching, learning, and reflecting on the use of both native and foreign languages. All of this is supported by a highly qualified faculty and staff committed to the academic and research development of students.
A Mark of Quality
The program director, Olga Lucía Uribe Enciso, emphasized the importance of validating these results through the performance of the university community: “Our students’ performance on the examinations demonstrates the institution’s culture of assessment, continuous improvement, and openness to reflection regarding the relevance of the program, its curriculum, and its course of study”.
“It also reflects the commitment and discipline of the School of Languages and the members of the academic community, as well as the efforts of the various UIS stakeholders to foster a strong and productive framework for learning processes”, she added.
UIS Reinforces Its Academic Standing
This recognition reaffirms the leadership of the Industrial University of Santander in the education of foreign language professionals and strengthens its position as a national benchmark in this field. Likewise, it demonstrates the contribution of high-quality public education to the social and academic development of the country.
[3:47 p. m., 5/6/2026] Sebastián Remolina 2026: UIS Strengthens Civic Education and Brings High School Students Closer to University Life
The Industrial University of Santander (UIS), through the School of Law and Political Science, continues to strengthen collaboration with secondary education through the project “Civic Ethics: an integration axis between secondary and higher education.” This initiative allows 10th and 11th grade students to experience university life while strengthening their civic competencies and envisioning their academic future.
The project began two years ago as the result of an agreement between UIS and Colegio Santander. Its main goal is to bring young people closer to public higher education by involving them in the course Civic Ethics, a subject that brings together students from different academic programs at the university.
Javier Alejandro Acevedo Guerrero, director of the School of Law and Political Science, stated that this strategic alliance “is the result of an agreement between Colegio Santander and the School, where students come to our classrooms to share with young people who are taking the Civic Ethics course. The initiative has served as a driving force for them to envision their professional lives, their studies at a public university, and to experience the spirit of studying here.”
In this way, participants gain firsthand insight into university life, share experiences with undergraduate students, and become familiar with academic processes in higher education, including the campus environment and the places where they will carry out their academic activities.
The Civic Ethics course promotes critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural realities of the country, while also fostering values such as participation, responsibility, and respect for diversity.
Valery Julieth Rodríguez Villamizar, a student from Colegio Santander, highlighted her experience with UIS professors Stephanía Figueroa and Brandon Jaimes: “It was a rewarding experience; they instilled in us the vision of studying at UIS in the future. In addition, the course emphasized what ethics is, how to behave, and, above all, they taught us to set goals, in this case entering a public university. The professors carried out many purposeful activities, such as how to act in different situations.”
With initiatives like this, the Industrial University of Santander reaffirms its commitment to high-quality public education and to creating opportunities for new generations.
