With the support of Student Wellfare, the UIS Floridablanca campus community participated in a workshop designed to foster dialogue, reflection, and the generation of ideas to strengthen the development of initiatives focused on the prevention, awareness, and detection of gender-based violence.
This collective effort was based on the institutional regulatory framework implemented by the Industrial University of Santander through the Protocol for the Prevention, Detection, and Response to Acts of Gender-Based Violence and Discrimination, regulated by Rector’s Resolution No. 094 of 2023.
In this regard, the University has tools in place that allow any member of the university community to promptly access institutional guidance and support in situations of violence and discrimination. “We want to foster a sense of connection with students on campus, which will allow us, through an educational activity, to understand their needs regarding gender-based violence and how they recognize these situations. This space also allows us to share institutional actions to mitigate these cases and publicize the support services available at the University,” said Leidy Nieto, a Student Wellfare professional.

The activity allowed for exploring students’ prior knowledge and strengthening efforts to raise awareness and detect gender-based violence. Likewise, the active participation of the students was highlighted, as they contributed ideas related to detection, prevention, response, and personal commitment to addressing this issue.
The event concluded with a reflection session in which students learned in detail about institutional actions and progress in implementing the current Protocol, which promotes the creation of safer, more respectful, and more inclusive university environments, as well as the community’s active participation in preventing gender-based violence.
