The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) continues to consolidate its academic leadership on the international stage.

Professor Alberto Ángel Martín, director of the UIS School of Nutrition and Dietetics, played a prominent role at the First Latin American Congress on Dairy Nutrition, held on February 25 and 26, 2026, in Lima, Peru.

During his speech, Professor Alberto Ángel highlighted “the need to strengthen regional coordination in order to comprehensively address nutritional problems, promote sustainable food systems, and promote public policies focused on the prevention of non-communicable diseases. These strategies make it possible to guarantee food security with a territorial approach.”

His participation was widely appreciated by the international scientific community, positioning Colombia as a leader in research, academic training, and policy development in nutrition and public health.

The congress reaffirmed that joint work between countries is key to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to nutrition, hunger reduction, and improving population health.

The Colombian presence strengthened academic and scientific ties in Latin America and demonstrated the UIS’s leadership in generating knowledge and training professionals committed to transforming the nutritional reality of the region.
