UIS and Fenalce: an alliance to promote applied research and technological innovation in agriculture

Alianza interinstitucional entre Fenalce y la UIS 2025

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) and the National Federation of Cereal, Legume and Soybean Producers (Fenalce) are moving forward in the consolidation of a strategic alliance that seeks to strengthen applied research and technology transfer in the agricultural sector of northeastern Colombia.

This Tuesday, July 29, at the UIS facilities, a key meeting was held between professors-researchers, the Directorate of External Relations of the institution and the general manager of Fenalce, along with his team. During the meeting, the union expressed its interest in the UIS becoming the academic and scientific ally that leads technological innovation processes aimed at the development of agriculture in departments such as Cesar and La Guajira.

“We met with the manager of Fenalce with the purpose of joining efforts so that academia and research reaches the territories, reaches the associations, so it is a great advance for the UIS in the territories” said Liliana del Pilar Castro director of the Office of External Relations of the UIS.

One of the proposals discussed was the possibility for Fenalce to access spaces within the Guatiguará Technological Park (PTG), in order to strengthen its research center and facilitate greater proximity to the scientific capabilities of the University. This synergy would allow for the articulation of efforts between the guild and the research groups of the UIS, taking advantage of specialized laboratories, high-level infrastructure and academic human talent.

With this initiative, the UIS reaffirms its commitment to the transfer of knowledge and technology for the benefit of strategic productive sectors of the country, while Fenalce bets on science and innovation as pillars to improve productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of the Colombian countryside.
