Mathematics will bring together tenth- and eleventh-grade students to share, discover, and create new ways of seeing the world. For this reason, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) will once again open the doors of its Central Campus to host the 26th Mathematical Calendar Student Meeting.
Next Saturday, September 26, a total of 42 students from different educational institutions in Bucaramanga, its metropolitan area, and the department of Santander will gather at the plaza of the Camilo Torres Building from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the event.
During this gathering, participants will have the opportunity to interact with other young people of their age and academic level, solving problems, presenting arguments, and learning from others while comparing different strategies for solving mathematical problems.
UIS Innovates to Take Learning to the Next Level
For this edition, the Recreational Mathematics Education Research Group (EDUMAT) will offer students a unique experience through the use of educational materials and digital technology. The Soma Club and the GeoGebra educational platform will allow participants to explore spatial visualization, figure composition, and the development of strategies aimed at enhancing their understanding of their surroundings.
The schools participating in this initiative include Roberto García Peña School, Instituto Educativo Liceo Patria, Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento School (Bucaramanga-Girón campus), Técnico Industrial José Elías Puyana School, and Instituto Educativo Club Unión, among others.
“Next Saturday, I hope to experience the same dynamic again, meet new teachers and students, and, above all, learn about new teaching strategies. We already know that EDUMAT will provide a new digital platform and technological tools to take learning to the next level. It will be an ideal experience for the students,” said Emiliana Prada Durán, a teacher at Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento School, Girón campus.
With this event, the UIS School of Mathematics and the EDUMAT group will bring the 26th edition to a close. Planning and development for the activities corresponding to the 27th edition of the Mathematical Calendar Student Meeting will begin in May 2027.
