The academic excellence and commitment to public service of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) are once again evident with the appointment of two of its graduates as associate judges of the Administrative Court of Santander.
On February 23, Fabián Díaz Hernández and Cristian Rojas Jerez were sworn in to assume this high office in the department’s administrative jurisdiction.
Díaz Hernández has built a career that combines teaching, research, and professional practice. He is a lawyer from the Industrial University of Santander, a specialist in public services, and holds a master’s degree in law from the Externado University of Colombia.
He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS). During his professional career, he has also been a professor at the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga (UNAB), the Pontifical Bolivarian University (UPB), and Santo Tomás University. In addition, he has worked as a consultant, litigator, legal conciliator, and assistant to the court. He is a junior researcher and academic peer recognized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Minciencias), and a columnist for Ámbito Jurídico, the country’s leading media outlet specializing in legal information.
“It means the opportunity to administer justice in the highest court of administrative jurisdiction in Santander. The appointment as associate judge represents the fulfillment of the ethical and professional requirements demanded by the Constitution and the law to hold such an important position. It is a manifestation of the trust that the Court has placed in me to strengthen the majesty of justice. Therefore, this opportunity is valuable because it allows me to leave my personal mark and the UIS seal,” said Díaz Hernández.

For his part, Cristian Rojas Jerez obtained his law degree from the Industrial University of Santander, specializing in Administrative Law, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Administrative Law at the Externado University of Colombia.
His career combines teaching and practice in the public sector. He is a professor at Ipred-UIS in Judicial and Criminal Management Technology, and a professor of public and constitutional law at the Uniremington University Corporation, Bucaramanga campus.
In the institutional sphere, he has served as an advisor to the Northeast Andes Territorial Directorate of National Natural Parks of Colombia, particularly in administrative sanctioning processes, contributing his experience in administrative law and public management.
For Rojas Jerez, this new position represents an opportunity to serve justice and contribute his professional and academic experience to strengthening the work of the judiciary. “I take on this professional challenge with my characteristic integrity and pride in being able to continue representing the UIS in all the professional spaces in which I have been fortunate enough to participate,” he said.
The simultaneous appointment of both graduates reaffirms the academic leadership of the UIS and its impact on the consolidation of a solid, ethical administrative justice system that is close to the citizens.
The University congratulates Fabián Díaz Hernández and Cristian Rojas Jerez on this important professional achievement and wishes them success in their work as associate judges, confident that their performance will contribute to an accessible, effective administration of justice committed to the general interest.
