Through awareness and prevention campaigns, UISALUD promoted early cancer detection.

With the aim of promoting early detection and strengthening a culture of self-care, the Specialized Health Unit of the Industrial University of Santander, UISALUD, commemorated World Cancer Day with information sessions aimed at its users and beneficiaries.

During the sessions held on February 4 and 5 at the UISALUD facilities, located on the UIS central campus, informative talks were given, educational material was distributed, and a commemorative ceremony was held, represented by the symbolic ribbon that identifies the fight against cancer. The purpose of these activities was to raise awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle habits and undergoing regular screenings and preventive exams that allow for early detection of the disease.

Approximately more than 40 UISALUD users and beneficiaries participated in these health education sessions, aimed at strengthening prevention and self-care as fundamental tools for mitigating the risks associated with cancer.

“At UISALUD, we reiterate the importance of regular screenings and check-ups, as early detection can make a difference in treatment and quality of life. We call on users to adopt healthy habits and make use of the promotion and prevention programs available,” said Mariagna Lizarazo, head of Nursing and leader of UISALUD’s cancer promotion and prevention program.

These activities are part of the promotion and prevention actions carried out by the Unit to encourage the university community and its affiliates to adopt self-care practices and seek timely consultation with health services, key factors in reducing the risks associated with cancer and improving prognoses in the event of diagnosis.

UISALUD invites all its users and beneficiaries to visit the entity and participate in promotion and prevention programs, as well as to undergo early detection exams, as a fundamental tool for comprehensive health care.
