This Sunday begins the participation of the UIS in the Regional University Games Ascún in Tunja

The Universidad Industrial de Santander will participate with 95 athletes in the Ascún Regional University Games that begin this Sunday in Tunja.

Chess, men’s and women’s basketball, 3×3 basketball, women’s soccer, field tennis, table tennis, men’s and women’s volleyball and sand volleyball are the disciplines that will compete in the capital of Boyacá.

In this phase, new quotas will be disputed for the National Championship that will take place in October in Bucaramanga. For this stage, different UIS athletes have already qualified, as is the case of the men’s soccer team, women’s indoor soccer, rugby and discus in both women and men, a sand volleyball duo, among other disciplines, so it was not necessary their presence in Tunja.

In Boyacá, the UIS will not compete in combat sports either, so its qualification to the National Championship will be based on the events to be held in Bucaramanga. Judo will take place on Saturday 10 at 8:00 a.m.; karate do at 1:00 p.m. on the same day and taekwondo on May 17 at 8:00 a.m.

In the case of swimming, the program will begin at 4:00 p.m. this Friday and will last until May 10. That same day there will be action in weightlifting, a discipline in which UIS participates with three athletes.

From there the best will move on to the National phase which will be held in Bucaramanga and there the UIS will host disciplines in the different sports venues of the central campus.
