The Universidad Indsutrial de Santander (UIS) has achieved a new international distinction with the inclusion of five of its researchers in the prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, an annual classification that identifies scientists with the greatest impact and influence on global scientific research.
The research excellence of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) has once again received international recognition. Five researchers affiliated with the institution are featured in the World’s Top 2% Scientists Network, one of the world’s most renowned scientific rankings, which recognizes the 2% of researchers with the greatest influence based on the impact of their academic and scientific output.
The UIS researchers included in this selection are:
- Henry Fuentes Arguello.
- Vladimir V. Kouznetsov.
- Claudia Cristina Ortiz.
- Laura A. Rodríguez-Villamizar.
- Elena Stashenko.
A ranking that recognizes the global impact of scientific research
This ranking is compiled by Stanford University (United States), in collaboration with the scientific publisher Elsevier, using bibliometric data from the Scopus database. Its purpose is to identify researchers whose academic output has achieved the greatest influence within the international scientific community.
To determine the selection, several impact indicators are analyzed, including the number of citations received by publications, the h-index, and other metrics that assess researchers’ careers, productivity, and contributions to the advancement of knowledge.
The analysis covers two categories: the cumulative impact throughout a researcher’s entire career and the impact of scientific output during the most recent year. In addition, researchers are classified into 20 major fields of knowledge and 174 scientific subfields, allowing comparisons that take into account the specific characteristics of each discipline.
Recognition of UIS’s commitment to research excellence
The inclusion of five UIS researchers in this ranking represents significant recognition of the quality of research conducted at the institution and the contributions of its academics to the generation, dissemination, and application of knowledge.
